Long Term Carbon Steel knife storage
#1
Normally I use EEZOX for cleaning and rust prevention. It has worked great for 20+ years.

Then I get a Mora Triflex carbon steel knife. Sharp as a razor. Great knives. Keep EEZOX on it.

Still pitted.

I mean I've put EEZOX on stuff like my Blackjack Model 14 A2 steel micarta handled Randall clone , left it in leather and high humidity...no rust, even discoloration. Two years going... No rust...

Have you guys had stuff like this with MORAS ??

Always used Bear Grease for long term.  Never had an issue with rust on any of the knives I used it on.

I keep coconut oil on my Mora. Keeps it covered and isn't toxic if I use it for cleaning an animal or eating with. But truth is, I don't use it much. It's basically my backup knife.

I will have people yelling at me.  The goal is to coat the surface with an oily substance to keep out water.  I have used spray Pam, 3 in 1 oil, olive oil, gun grease, silicon sprays.  Don't use a water displacer like wd40 as it will leave the blade bare.  Do not store in leather.  If you can wrap in an oily rag, that is fine too.  Lubing is a difference matter.  I use Tuff Glide because it is what I would describe as a light lubricant that will not attract dust and dirt like 3 in 1 oil.

I've blued my carbon steel Morakniv and Opinel carry knife with some Super Blue then I just keep it wiped down with a little CLP from time to time.
