NuMyth fire Piston!
#1
.  How y'all are?? I'm glad for you to see me I GAURONTEEEE !!

Saw a great little tool  on an obscure show called Survivorman a couple years back called a fire piston and I was immediately fascinated with it.

A tool to start a fire, no spark, flame, hot wire, chemicals, etc.

So I sat off looking for a modern option.

The NuMyth Vulcan fire Piston is an aircraft aluminum lightweight small version with a storage space for tinder, o rings, etc.

It is EXTREMELY DURABLE, and easy to use, provided you watch a few vids and do your homework. I couldn't get it to produce an ember with my charcloth no matter what I did , and my char cloth was gtg. So I got ahold of a product called Stone Tinder on EBay. That fuzzy stuff is an absolute Godsend!

Pack the nose of the piston with tinder. Lightly grease o rings with Vaseline, slam, instant ember!

Use Charcloth as an ember extender when transferring to your tinder bundle!

Fire pistons can be hand made with a minimum of tools and equipment, and as long as your tinder is fine and fuzzy enough can save on lighters, FERROS, matches etc! I encourage all to look these little machines over, and give em a try!

Numyth Vulcan Fire Piston v2

First time I saw the fire piston was by Mykle Hawke on Man, Woman Wild.  It was pretty cool actually.   Smile

Neat thing about the Nfpv2 is the bottom is removable, o ring sealed, and is easier to clean than a closed end system. You can bleed all the air out and tighten it down, you won't loose the rod portion.

The same guy that owns/makes Stone Tinder is a personal friend. He made a fire piston for me from a 2 liter bottle preform, some JB weld, tubing, aluminum rod, o ring. The rod passes thru the original lid on the preform, and the space in between the tube and the piston wall serves as a HUGE storage space for Stone Tinder. This thing is AMAZING! It holds enough tinder to probably start 300 fires, and a pick to clean the tube, or ya could use a 22 LR cleaning rod, pipe cleaners etc. carry char cloth and a dab o Vaseline and its ready!
