David's after action report:

Great night as usual.  Not as cold as previously predicted but still very pleasant sleeping weather.  Got a chance to try some things:
  • First time to use the Walmart hammock/bug net.  Easy to set up and take down.  Very comfortable.  Was like sleeping in a raised Catoma bed net tent.  The bed net was raised off the body so that you had plenty of room to even sit up if necessary.  I like this quite a bit and look forward to more use.
  • Down in the 'Shelter' section I have a video from Dave Canterbury on 'Winterizing the hammock'.  I used the same material I bought at Lowe's which is basically bubble wrap with mylar on both sides.  Kept the convection from underneath the hammock from getting through to me and kept me very comfortable.
  • Hadn't touched my camping packs since our last gathering on purpose.  Wanted to see how the flashlights and such held up and they did just fine.  Very happy about the whole experience.
  • We set up for a little target practice withe the Beeman pellet rifles.  Popped off quite a few pellets at cans and bottles at 75 feet.  Good practice.
Smile

Dave and I are back in the world. Great, no - amazing weather!

*I gave a brief demo of the Catoma Saturday before Bonnie/Jessica left. They were gone before I figured out to re-package it. (been that long since I slept in it????)

* I did not have a lot of time get my stuff read - but as Dave said, it was in pretty good shape.

This weekend was pretty casual, and I had some time to go through everything. I will definitely get the stuff for the hammock, but I was fine with a thermal layer and sweats.

By the way - the Cold Steel All Terrain Machete make one heck of a tactical spatula! [pics soon]
