Big fan of saving seeds.  We grow different kinds of lettuce and they really are great when they go to seed.  My wife will sit and pick the seeds for saving and the rest just goes right back into the ground for a new batch to spring up.  There is nothing quite as satisfying as walking out to the backyard and grabbing what you want out of the garden!
Governmental dependance makes for poor self reliance.

You've established what I'm working on. Sometime soon I'm going to get the container corn I posted in the deal thread. Corn on top of a few things I'm planting will start me off right. The great thing is once you've bought something, you've paid one time for it. Save the seeds and your set for next time and emergencies.

Great for medicinal uses as well!
