Ebay

Okay, I ordered several from this Ebay vendor.  He shipped the same day and they just arrived (earlier than expected).  Very impressed and I'd recommend this seller.  He has a 100% rating for a reason.

This will now be my standard day hike filter and EDC filter.

I picked up some of the LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottles...  amazon had them on Todays special last night for $25.
Similar to the others but now the ability to fill up the bottle and carry water ( same rating as L Straw in specs )

Added them to the car backpacks

Those systems seem to be getting popular.  And really it's a great idea.  Not only can you filter water, it allows you to carry water (as the name says) on the go which is a big deal.

And you got a great deal on that at $25.  I'm seeing like $27+ on Amazon/Ebay right now.

I've got a Sawyer bottle in one GHB and a Berkey bottle in the other vehicle GHB.  But I like what you have for around the town or out of the country.

I gotta get one of those Sawyer bottles.

I'm going to bite the bullet and a Katadyn Hiker or vario…..No worries, ever.

The Sawyer bottle is nice to have for water-on-the-go.  From the perspective of camping or an emergency situation it's nice to have a 32oz container that also filters the water.  I keep a Sawyer bottle in one vehicles GHB and a Berkey Sport Bottle in the other.  The Sawyer is good for a million gallons and the Berkey is like 100 gallons.  Either would be good for an emergency situation.  What I like about the Sawyer is that it comes with the syringe so that you can continually back flush the filter.  I feel that's a very handy piece of gear.

One of the pieces of gear we talked about/show-n-tell at this weekends SEP gathering was the Sawyer MINI Water Filtration System

These are available at Walmart for a few pennies under $20.  Filter 100,000 gallons and very handy to have.  Bob just picked up one and sounds like he's going to pick up some more.  I carry one in each EDC pack and my dayhike bag.  Occasionally you can find a really good deal on Amazon or Ebay as well.

I paid primo for some Katadyn hiker pro's for each of our packs a few years ago. I love them but they're super expensive. How to you guys like those Sawyer rigs? I've been looking at them for a while but don't know anyone who has used them.

I've used the Sawyer mini's, they work great but if the water tastes funny or like sulfer you'll want one of these also:

I have one but I haven't used this product with the mini filter yet- supposed to improve taste.

Or do I have this one? Can't remember but haven't used it yet:
