That is a foreign concept to me. We have so many streams, ponds, lakes, and rivers around, it makes the only challenge of water is making sure you filter it. On the farm we have two wells, one is at 65 feet deep and one is at 13 feet deep, both will overflow if they aren't used and we have two springs on the farm. When there was cattle, we never had to worry about watering them unless we locked them at the barn because there was always water available to them.

We dug a 3 ft hole about 8 ft wide to put brush in. The only time the hole has been dry is the weekend that we dug it. So we are spoiled when it comes to water, which I'm thankful for.

Same here.  Within 30 seconds walking of my house is a pond.  Within a few minutes are several more.  All big enough bodies of water to have alligators, big ones.  All this is needed is to make it potable.

If I'm in the woods or on the job site I have a Camelbak with a Sawyer inline filter and Aquamira drops for the really suspect stuff. Same when I'm in the Caribbean.

The car has a 20L USG water can.

In my pocket? No.

Out of the country it would be a must!

David mentioned "out of the country". I recall having a small filtration unit in my luggage in the PRC. On reflection, if bladders had then existed, I would have carried them 40 something years ago in Central Asia and other places.
