Cold steel recon tanto as a general purpose survival/bushcraft/combat knife?

I am looking at this knife for the above mentioned purposes. I think it is strong enough for that but I am not certain the blade shape lends itself well to two of those purposes. Namely, bushcraft and survival. Should I go with a knife such as this one instead?

I believe the blade shape on this knife lends itself better to certain utility tasks. Is the recon tanto really at that much of a disadvantage?

I have a few coldsteel knifes, very durable and sharp etc. but also very heavy.. I suggest you check out a K'Bar knife before you make your decision?

I've owned a Recon Tanto.  Very nice knife overall.  I think I'd prefer the SRT though for survival/bushcraft.
Governmental dependance makes for poor self reliance.

SRT - have two. Was a knife dealer. Of course, I have too many knives now.

Another question regarding the recon tanto. What is the guard made of? It looks like it was directly fused to the kraton handle. How durable is the guard?

Never had any issues with the handles of ant CS knives. Been very durable. I'm not sure what the material is though.

I can also attest to the strength and durability of the CS Voyager Tanto. I've had mine for well over 20+ years and still EDC with it when I'm not using the Hawkbill. I like the clip better on the Voyager.
