Drill Suggestion
#1
Had one of my regular shooters suggest that we shoot the Sheriff's qualifier. It's only 25rds so it can be added as a drill after our normal stages.
Once I looked it up, I was surprised what they are still running. No real movement, only one reload, and the par times are absurdly long. They give you two full seconds per shot for quick draw hip shooting at arm's length. Up to 4 seconds per shot at longer range. Still allow 20% misses too. Not hitting a full size silhouette at a slow rate of fire and short to medium distance is unacceptable by any standard.
The total par time for 25 shots is 54sec. I'm guessing most of our shooters can do it in 30 with zero misses and our top guys probably low 20s.

It is fun shooting the different law enforcement qualifiers that law makers tot being so difficult and that is why police can carry everywhere. We have shot the Illinois law enforcement qualifier without an issue.

The ladies group that my wife shoots with did the FBI qualifier. Most came very close to passing it, one did pass it (my wife, I was proud of her). Understand that some of these ladies had only been shooting for six months or less. My guess this summer when they try it again, that most of them will pass it.

Here are few different states and their qualifiers:

I worked in a law enforcement capacity for 10 years & had to requalify yearly by state statute, I really don't think you will find to many officers say that the yearly qualifying course is difficult. Most agencies will pay for all the ammo you are willing to shoot anytime you want at there range & most committed officers take advantage of that often so that gives them an edge over your average shooter.
