Does anyone here play either Starfleet Battles or Axis and Allies, either table top or online?  Have you ever played either?  Would you like to?

Back in my younger days, we played Axis and Allies board games for hours and hours.

Now, when time allows I play World of Tanks and/or World of Ships.

You familiar with 1940 Global?  That is the ultimate A&A game.

The original one from the mid-80's is now considered A&A Classic.  Probably the one you're familiar with.  I started out on that version and have probably played more than a 100 games with it.  Always had a fun time with it.  Well now they've got a multitude of versions such as Europe, Pacific, 1941, 1942 and a bunch of other versions.  The ultimate is 1940 Global and uses the map boards from the Europe and Pacific versions.  Put together the whole map is around 5 feet long give or take.  The units have been expanded to:
  • Battleships
  • Carriers
  • Cruisers
  • Destroyers
  • Subs
  • Transports
  • Tanks
  • Infantry
  • Artillery
  • Armored personnel carriers
  • AA guns
  • Strategic bombers
  • Tactical bombers
  • Fighters
  • Air bases
  • Naval bases
  • Convoy routes

The rules have been greatly expanded and it's like the original version on steroids but in a good way.  Really allows for some indepth strategies.  The countries have been expanded to:
  • USA
  • Great Britain West
  • Great Britain East
  • Germany
  • France
  • Italy
  • Russia
  • ANZAC (Australia/New Zealand)
  • Japan
With minor countries like Mongolia, Dutch Indies.

There is an online game version that is a free download.  You can play the computer or online with other folks.  If you want to hook up and try a game let me know.  I can guide you through it.  It's a good format in that you can save a game and continue it later.  That's a good thing because it's a long game so it's something to play an hour or so here and there until it's done.

Let me know  Smile
