I took a drive to Lapua's test center last week. After trying about 20 loads, I bought a case of Center-X.
The most expensive rimfire ammo I've ever purchased, but should keep me in the game for 4-5 years.

Re: New 18650 owner
I have one 18650 modlite that I barely use because it's not a standard battery for me.

We had full coverage here. You didn't miss much. It's an interesting astronomical alignment, but not the most exciting event ever.

Re: Ammo inventory
It's always good to find ammo you forgot you had. I never liked milsurp stuff so no spam cans laying around. All the old $79 cases of 9mm are long gone too. Not only will it run thousands of rounds with no maintenance, if it ever does need any, it's super easy to repair...

Re: watches
If it's a true societal breakdown where lifespan of gear comes into play, a simple digital watch will probably last as long as any radio equipment. The power source is going to be the limiting factor of any electrical device so an Ironman and a Baofeng will both be pretty useless in a few years.

Re: Another Book: Expatriots
Sounds like a good read. I'm a little surprised at the gun selection unless it's a period piece.
